Transform your skin with the right exfoliant
So, why is daily, gentle exfoliation an essential step in any skincare routine? Because age and environmental damage slow skin's natural ability to shed dead cells, leaving it dull, rough, and prone to clogged pores.

The right non-abrasive, leave-on exfoliant will hydrate, smooth your skin, and diminish the visible signs of ageing – without the damaging effects of harsh scrubs and brushes.

Which exfoliant is right for my skin concern?
AHAs are most helpful for normal to dry skin with advanced signs of ageing. AHA products smooth wrinkles and fine lines, help with rough, crepey texture, and will leave you with hydrated, supple skin and a healthy glow; research also shows them to be effective at minimising the visible signs of sun damage.

BHA is ideal if you’re dealing with clogged pores, blackheads, blemishes, or enlarged pores, as well as signs of ageing. BHA is preferred for those with temperamental skin because of its calming, soothing properties. BHA exfoliants are even suitable for those with skin prone to milia and/or rosacea.

Can you use an exfoliant around your eyes?
image
All Paula’s Choice Skincare products, including our leave-on exfoliants are safe to apply up to the orbital bone.

Apply a light layer and blend away from the eye, as products tend to move a bit once warmed to body temperature. An exfoliant can minimise the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines and increase hydration.

Don't forget to always apply an SPF rated 30 or above daily, also around the eyes.

Can you combine an AHA or BHA exfoliant with retinol?
There is a common misconception that you can’t combine retinol with an exfoliant. Actually, research shows that the anti-ageing benefits of retinol are boosted when you combine it with an AHA or BHA exfoliant in the right amounts. Also, our exfoliants are designed to work well with any other Paula’s Choice product, including those that contain niacinamide and vitamin C.

Nonetheless, we always advise to monitor how your skin reacts and adjust the use of products accordingly.
