Often written out of the history of cocktails, women have been key in inventing some of the cocktails we know and love today.
These days in the world of Mixology, women are on an equal footing with men as they continue to mix innovative ingredients, research new flavours, win awards, manage famous bars and run their own.

The great grandmother of Mixology, Ada Coleman, was head bartender at the Savoy Hotel in London for 23 years and mixed her first signature cocktail the ‘Hanky Panky’ in 1903.
Since then more and more women have visibility thanks to social media. They are stepping forward to claim the bar with their own signature cocktails. Take the White Lady by Feruzan Bilimoria for instance, the Cosmopolitan by Cheryl Cook, who mixed this famous pink cocktail for the first time at the Strand bar, South Beach in the 1980s, and The Gin-Gin Mule by Audrey Saunders at the Beacon in New York.
