Eastleigh planners in UK Top 30 - and best performing borough in Hampshire

Eastleigh Borough Council’s planners are the best performing borough in Hampshire - and in the Top 30 nationally.

That’s the finding of a recent assessment by Planning magazine (the UK’s professional publication for town planning) which ranks Eastleigh as 26th best performing local planning authority (LPA) in the country. Eastleigh is one of only 21 LPAs identified nationally as delivering a ‘silver’ standard of decision-making - with performance being significantly higher than the statutory level -  and the only borough or district council in Hampshire to achieve a rating this high.

Walking football for those less mobile

image

Eastleigh FC’s Walking Football Club has launched a new initiative to enable people who less able to get back into exercise.

Aimed at people with Parkinsons, MS, recovering from heart attack or stroke - or any condition that has slowed them down - these light sessions are designed to ease people back into exercise. They take place at Places Leisure Eastleigh every Wednesday, starting with a warm up, followed by a walking football session - and tea or coffee afterwards, with a social chat to wind down.

Open to anyone over-18, male or female, sessions start at 2pm and finish at 4pm. Cost initially is free and £2 after two sessions, which helps cover the cost of refreshments. Footballs and bibs are provided.
