Parliamentary Election 2024 - all the information you need
The UK Parliamentary General Election takes place next Thursday 4 July. We have pulled together information for voters, including guidance on voting by proxy, support for disabled voters, what ID you need to be able to vote, as well as information for candidates and agents.

Support for disabled and clinically vulnerable voters
The voting process should be accessible to all voters and we offer a range of support for disabled and clinically vulnerable voters to enable them to vote independently, or with assistance.

Postal votes
If you have a postal vote, please make sure you put it in the post as soon as possible to ensure that it arrives by 10pm on Thursday 4 July 2024.
You now need photo ID to vote at polling stations
People voting in person or by proxy at polling stations will now have to show photo identification.

Celebrations at Itchen Valley for volunteers
Local volunteers were welcomed by the Mayor of Eastleigh at Itchen Valley Country Park this week. It was for a special celebration to honour their dedication in supporting Council projects and venues across the Borough.
The Mayor, Councillor Dave Pragnell, shared a cream tea with the volunteers and thanked them for their hard work.
Attendees at this special event represented over 200 volunteers who help with the Green Spaces teams, the Plant Eastleigh project, Health Walks, and The Point and Berry Theatres.

Supporting our Armed Forces
Tomorrow (Saturday 29 June) is Armed Forces Day, which is a chance for communities to recognise the contribution of service personnel and their families, veterans and cadets.
As well as flying the flag to mark the occasion, the Council is signing the Armed Forces Community Covenant to encourage support for the Armed Forces Community working and residing in Eastleigh.

Anyone for tennis? New courts coming to Bursledon!
The tennis courts at Bursledon Recreation Ground have been resurfaced, repainted and new nets and posts are due to be installed early next week.
They are part of the Lawn Tennis Association's Park Tennis Project, funded by the UK Government and LTA Tennis Foundation. The courts also received additional funding from the Bursledon, Hamble & Hound Local Area Committee to enhance the facility for local residents.
With Wimbledon starting next week, what better time to enjoy some tennis in the sun!

Fun days for families on free school meals
Free fun-filled activity days take place at Itchen Valley Country Park over the summer holidays for families in receipt of benefits-related free school meals!
We are hosting Family Fun Days over four Thursdays in August. They include outdoor activity sessions and a two-course meal.
They are available for accompanied four to 11 year-olds. Families can already apply for the eligibility code required prior to booking, which opens Thursday 11 July.
