Big Green Ideas Day at The Point this month
Sustainability Hub: Big Green Ideas Day
Saturday 20 April, 10am, at The Point
The Point’s Big Green Ideas Day is back this month, and the venue is teaming up with Wild Hive Collective for a day full of inspiration to take small but mighty environmental actions together.
The day includes the chance to take part in paper-based crafts; swap seeds and plants; find some treasures at the give-and-take exchange; and visit a range of stallholders who are leading sustainable initiatives going on in and around Eastleigh.
It finishes with family show Breathe by Half a String theatre company; experience a story told from the perspective of an acorn in this delicate puppetry show full of beautiful detailed sets, music and live camera work.

Informing residents about managing green spaces
We have published
a new page on our website [ that provides information about how we manage our green spaces. This information aims to educate and inform residents about our more environmentally friendly approach to green space management, that will also help improve biodiversity across the Borough.
In particular, we have included
an interactive map [ designed to allow you to quickly and easily find those areas where the Council is responsible for grass cutting, together with how regularly they are cut. We have also included an FAQ section that we hope will address most of your questions.
The webpage, map and FAQ section can be added to at any time, but we also hope this information will help make residents across the Borough more aware of what we are doing to manage our green spaces.

Animal welfare and dog fouling - have your say
The Council is proposing an Animal Welfare & Licensing Policy, along with a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) for the control of dog fouling - and we're asking for residents' input
Proposals include £100 fines for those who don't clean up after their dogs, and the policy makes clear the responsibilities of owners surrounding the care and protection of animals.
Both the PSPO and Animal Welfare & Licensing Policy aim to enhance the quality of life for people in the Borough and create cleaner public spaces.
Share your thoughts through our
online survey [ (closing on Monday 6 May).
Contacting the Council - how does it work for you?

Complete the survey and be in with a chance to win a £50 shopping voucher! It closes next Friday 19 April.

Make sure your food waste bin can be seen
We're reminding residents to make sure their food waste bins are visible to our food waste crews when they approach their property.
Please ensure you put them in front of your larger green or black bins so that they can be seen and emptied. This is particularly important early in the morning when it is dark.
