Click here Big Green Ideas Day at The Point this monthSustainability Hub: Big Green Ideas DaySaturday 20 April, 10am, at The Point The day includes the chance to take part in paper-based crafts; swap seeds and plants; find some treasures at the give-and-take exchange; and visit a range of stallholders who are leading sustainable initiatives going on in and around Eastleigh. It finishes with family show Breathe by Half a String theatre company; experience a story told from the perspective of an acorn in this delicate puppetry show full of beautiful detailed sets, music and live camera work. Full programme Informing residents about managing green spacesWe have published a new page on our website that provides information about how we manage our green spaces. This information aims to educate and inform residents about our more environmentally friendly approach to green space management, that will also help improve biodiversity across the Borough. In particular, we have included an interactive map designed to allow you to quickly and easily find those areas where the Council is responsible for grass cutting, together with how regularly they are cut. We have also included an FAQ section that we hope will address most of your questions. The webpage, map and FAQ section can be added to at any time, but we also hope this information will help make residents across the Borough more aware of what we are doing to manage our green spaces. Today we focus on our HealthWorks volunteers who lead groups of people on the Health Walks across the Borough and buddy up with individuals to encourage them to lead an active and healthier life. We salute you for all the years of work you have dedicated to improving people's lives! Have you got the correct voter ID for this May?If you do not have any of the accepted photo ID, and you want to vote at a polling station, you will need to apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate by 5pm on 24 April which can be used specifically for the purposes of voting. We've created a video explaining how voting will work in the Borough's polling stations on 2 May - now that forms of photo ID are required. Animal welfare and dog fouling - have your say The Council is proposing an Animal Welfare & Licensing Policy, along with a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) for the control of dog fouling - and we're asking for residents' input Proposals include £100 fines for those who don't clean up after their dogs, and the policy makes clear the responsibilities of owners surrounding the care and protection of animals. Both the PSPO and Animal Welfare & Licensing Policy aim to enhance the quality of life for people in the Borough and create cleaner public spaces. Share your thoughts through our online survey (closing on Monday 6 May). Contacting the Council - how does it work for you?We're keen to know how you get in touch with the Council - to raise issues, report problems, get information or give us feedback - and what works best for you. We've put together a survey and we'd love to hear what you think about your customer journey. We want to know if our communications and customer service channels are easy to use and helpful, and how we can make them better. Complete the survey and be in with a chance to win a £50 shopping voucher! It closes next Friday 19 April. Garden Waste schemeThere's still time to sign up for our popular Garden Waste Collection Service - and save on the time, fuel costs and inconvenience of a trip to the tip. Make sure your food waste bin can be seen We're reminding residents to make sure their food waste bins are visible to our food waste crews when they approach their property. Please ensure you put them in front of your larger green or black bins so that they can be seen and emptied. This is particularly important early in the morning when it is dark. The Hundred is back for 2024 bringing action-packed, unmissable world-class cricket and blockbuster entertainment this summer! You can now get tickets in an exclusive priority window taking place from 9-23 April, ensuring access to the best seats at early bird prices ahead of general sale. Southern Brave will play four home matchdays at the Council-owned Utilita Bowl throughout July and August. Don’t miss some of the world’s best cricketers, alongside lights, music and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy this summer! Get your tickets Design and draw an ‘EBC 50-Year Logo’ CompetitionCelebrate the 50th anniversary of Eastleigh Borough Council by taking part in our '50 Year Logo' competition! The winning design will be featured all year, and the artist will receive a £50 theatre voucher from the Mayor.
