Stamford Bridge repairs project

An essential repair scheme is to be carried out to strengthen the historic road bridge at Stamford Bridge, near York, following years of damage.
The 80m-long village bridge, built in 1727 - making it almost 300 years old - has been struck in traffic accidents over the past few years, causing severe damage to its parapets. East Riding of Yorkshire Council is to invest £350,000 to repair and improve road safety on the Grade II listed structure, with work beginning in mid-May this year.

UK Youth Parliament elections
Elected MYP
East Riding elections to the UK Youth Parliament [
] have taken place, with 5,743 young people voting on who they would like to represent them.
Four youth representatives have been announced; George Jackson, age 14 from Hornsea school and Sophia Osborne, age 16 from South Hunsley school have been elected as new Members of Youth Parliament (MYP). Charlotte Rogers and Poppy Pacy have been elected as Deputy Members.

Market Weighton road resurfacing scheme

A major scheme to improve the road surface on the main route through Market Weighton is to start this spring.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council is to invest £1.5m in the resurfacing scheme, which includes a 1km stretch of road in the town, from York Road to Sancton Road.
The project is due to start on Monday 15 April and take 20 weeks to complete, lasting until September, weather permitting.

A whole host of fun, creative and festive activities for children and young people during the Easter holidays, for those receiving benefits related free school meals.
New in 2024 include goat walking in Hedon, music workshops in Beverley, Withernsea and Bridlington, football camps in Bridlington and multi-sports in Wilberfoss.
