** Green Flag status for three East Herts parks
------------------------------------------------------------
We're delighted to announce that Castle Park in Bishop's Stortford has received a Green Flag Award for the first time this year, while Southern Country Park in Bishop’s Stortford and The Ridgeway in Hertford have retained their coveted Green Flag status.
The picture above shows the hoisting of the flag on the Waytemore Castle mound at Castle Park earlier this week.
The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark for best practice across the UK. This year, 2,227 parks and green spaces have reached the high standard required to receive a Green Flag Award.
Castle Park has recently undergone significant re-development including new footpaths and bridge links over the River Stort, enhanced planting, wildlife habitat improvements, a new park cafe, a skate park and Lawn Tennis Association accredited tennis courts.

** Is your home at risk of flooding?
------------------------------------------------------------
Hertfordshire County Council wants to hear from residents who have a property that has been or is at risk of being flooded.
They are specifically interested in hearing from those residents who want to find out more about measures to prevent future flooding taking place.
The original Flood Resilience Scheme was available to properties that were often in locations where only a few homes were at risk of flooding. Properties that met the criteria for support had the chance to receive a grant of up to £6,000.
If the demand for a new scheme is evident, the council will look into the feasibility of creating one with the ambition of offering grants to homeowners.

** Hertfordshire Health Walks
------------------------------------------------------------
Walking is the simplest way to get active. Taking part in a Hertfordshire Health Walk is a great way to get some exercise while spending time in our lovely East Herts countryside.
The walks are led by team of over 200 friendly volunteers and take place across Hertfordshire. They are graded so you can choose what will suit you best - from a
30 minute walk with a gentle pace through to a ninety minute walk with a faster pace and possible steep inclines. There is a separate timetable for each district in Hertfordshire with the walks mostly taking place Monday to Friday.
All Hertfordshire Health Walks are free with no booking required. Just turn up at least ten minutes before the start time for the pre-walk briefing.

This year's Rock at the Castle is set to take place on Sunday, 4 August from 12 midday to 7pm in the beautiful grounds of Hertford Castle. The free music festival showcases a diverse line up of young and upcoming talent, covering a range of musical tastes.
With three stages spread over three different areas there will be something for everyone in the line up. The main stage will be on the main lawn along with food and refreshment stands, while the Moat Garden and the Island stages will be home to solo and duo acts with a more relaxed and acoustic inspired feel.
Citizens Advice Eat Herts will be fundraising at the gates. Donations will be used to run the Contact Centre in Fleming Crescent, Hertford Sele, which is open every Wednesday from 11am to 1pm.
The Contact Centre enables people without internet or phone access and those who have health issues or language and learning difficulties to access free support and advice face to face.
