Hertford Castle Plus Neighbourhood Plan

In Hertford, Neighbourhood Plans have already created for Bengeo, Kingsmead and Sele and now it's the turn of the communities covered by Castle, Kingsmead West and Bengeo South wards.

Hertford Town Council has proposed that this area be known as Hertford Castle Plus. Once this designation has been confirmed, the process of creating a Neighbourhood Plan for Hertford Castle Plus will begin. We will ensure that residents are kept fully up to date on next steps and how they can participate.

The overall aim of a Neighbourhood Plan is to ensure that future developments make a positive and beneficial contribution to the wider community and are supported by improvements to local services and infrastructure. They allow communities to have a direct say about challenges they have identified in their local area. These can include the development of residential housing developments, small businesses, local shops and other amenities, as well as the preservation of green spaces.

You can view the Hertford Castle Plus Neighbourhood Area Designation Application via our website and make comments between now and Thursday, 23 May.

New scheme to boost home energy efficiency

Our recently launched ECO4 and ECO-Flex grant schemes are designed to help lower income households improve the energy efficiency of their homes.

Home upgrades can include improved insulation and ventilation, modern heating systems such as air source heat pumps and solar panels, new heating controls and/or energy efficient lighting.

Applications for the schemes are being managed by the recently launched East Herts Home Energy Support Service which is provided by Better Housing Better Health (BHBH). Local installation suppliers can also apply on a resident’s behalf. Should a resident be approached directly by a supplier regarding the scheme and would like to check their validity, BHBH can also do this for them.
