Volunteering opportunity in Bishop's Stortford

Play your part in helping people in your community play tennis for free. Your support may be the reason why someone picks up a racket for the first time and discovers a new sport for life.

Barclays Free Park Tennis sessions wouldn’t be possible without the incredible work of volunteer activators. These teams work together to plan and lead fun activities on court as well as collaborating with venues and operators to more people get active and enjoy tennis with free weekly sessions.

We’re looking for more people to join their local team of volunteers and help make a difference in the community.

You don’t need to be a coach or even have that much experience playing tennis, anyone can become a Barclays Free Park Tennis Activator – we’ll give you everything you need to succeed.

Plastic Free July - make the pledge!

Are you looking for ways to be part of the solution to plastic pollution? This July, join millions of people worldwide reducing their plastic waste by choosing to refuse single-use plastic.

This year’s Plastic Free July campaign focuses on small changes each of us can make to reduce plastic waste under the slogan “Small steps, big difference”.

Why not try to choose one single-use plastic to avoid, or why not take the pledge to avoid single-use cups, plastic drink bottles, or plastic food wrap?

These “Top 3” items are single-use plastic items we commonly use each day that most of us can be easily replaced by:

  • Refilling reusable water bottles from the tap
  • Bringing a reusable cup or sitting and enjoy a real cup
  • Switching from plastic wrap to reusable containers or wax wraps

Get set for a summer of smiles

HAPpy Camps are back once again for the summer school holiday.

Children and teens living in Hertfordshire who get benefits-related free school meals can attend this FREE holiday activity provision.

As ever, HAPpy Camps will offer a wide variety of activities for children with a hot lunch included too!  They’re a great way to keep kids active and curious during the holidays, so they’re ready to learn again in the new school year.

Every camp is inclusive and able to meet the needs of most children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), provided the right information is supplied with their booking. There are also SEND-specific camps which are better for children with higher support needs.

The HAPpy Camps summer programme runs from 29 July to 30 August.

The HAPpy programme is funded by Hertfordshire County Council and coordinated by Herts Sport and Activity Partnership and the Hertfordshire Community Foundation.
