Help Dorset smokers make the swap

Swap 2 Stop is a new nationwide campaign aimed at encouraging smokers to make the switch from smoking to vaping to improve their health.

LiveWell Dorset is offering adult smokers who live in Dorset the opportunity to sign up for a free vape kit including six weeks' worth of e-liquids, plus access to support via a downloadable quit app and online video coaching.

In this video, Sam Crowe, Director of Public Health at Dorset Council and BCP Council, introduces the Swap 2 Stop offer. We also hear from health care professionals on how swapping to a vape from smoking is better for the health of any adult who smokes.
Nicotine vaping is now one of the most popular stop smoking aids. Studies show that when used alongside coaching support, it’s a very effective way of quitting.

Smokers are addicted to nicotine, not tobacco. It is the tar and toxic chemicals in tobacco smoke that kills, so switching from smoking to vaping is a positive health move.

Is your child protected? Check their Red Book to make sure

Childhood routine vaccinations are our best line of defence in preventing childhood diseases which can cause illness and serious complications for some.

With vaccination rates nationally declining in recent years, we want to remind parents and carers of how important it is to make sure their child is protected.

Check their Red Book or speak to your GP practice if you are unsure whether your child has missed any of their routine vaccinations. If your child isn’t vaccinated, they’re not protected.

Get confidence using two wheels

With the weather hopefully changing, you may be inspired to get out and about more.

Have you got a bike you’d like to use but have lost the confidence to explore the local area on it? Adult cycling training vouchers could help.

If you are a Dorset Council resident and aged 18 and over, you can apply to buy cycling training vouchers at a reduced rate of £12.50 each. Each voucher entitles you to a two-hour session with a qualified instructor.

If you don’t have a bike but are interested in the scheme, a bike could be loaned for the sessions. Make arrangements when buying the vouchers.

Safer sleep advice applies for every sleep, whether it's night or day, cot or pram, a quick nap or night-time sleep.

Remember, The Lullaby Trust's A-B-C tip: (A) ALWAYS sleep your baby, (B) on their BACK, (C) in a CLEAR cot or sleep space.
