Dorset Council’s A Big Conversation – Here to listen

This summer, our new Cabinet members are asking residents to help shape their plans and priorities for the next five years.


We held our first resident engagement event in Bridport on Wednesday. We had a great turnout and it was really interesting to hear from everyone who came along.


We have more events coming up over the summer.

Awards celebrate children in care

Exceptional young people in care were celebrated for their achievements at a special awards ceremony this week which was followed by a private screening of the new Despicable Me film.


Young people were joined by their foster carers, social workers, teachers and education support staff for the Dorset Virtual School Awards which took place at the Odeon Cinema in Dorchester.


There were nominations for outstanding progress and effort for 158 young people in three age groups.

Statement from Dorset Council re Bibby Stockholm contract

The Home Secretary announced that the contract for the Bibby Stockholm barge will not be renewed at Portland Port and therefore the vessel will no longer be in operation from the end of this contract in January 2025.
