** Time is running out! Funding round for business grants about to close

** Do you run a Dorset business? We still have funds available via the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

If you meet the criteria for a grant, you can potentially double your funding with a simple application.
Businesses can apply for grants of between £2,000 and £20,000, towards digital technology and innovation, research and development, and business growth & exports.
** But hurry - Round 2 closes on Sunday 30 June.

** Dorset businesses urged to have their say on what digital skills they need from employees
------------------------------------------------------------
Did you know that today, only 54% of us are able to do all twenty Essential Digital Skills for Work?
Dorset Council works with a charity, FutureDotNow
, developed by government and industry.
Dorset employers are urged to complete the survey below and help validate this framework. The more this framework works for you and your employees, the more we’ll be able to create products and services that will help us collectively narrow the digital skills gap.
The survey will be open until the end of June.

Farming can often be overlooked as an integral part of the South West's economy of innovation - and Tech South West is aiming to change that.

** Nominations are now open for the 2024 Barclays Entrepreneur Awards

In the ninth year of the awards, Barclays continues to celebrate entrepreneurs who are committed to disrupting the status quo and driving innovation, who consistently support communities and the wider economy.
Businesses can nominate themselves as well as others who’ve demonstrated the passion and skills that have turned unique visions into reality.
Don’t forget, entries can be made across a maximum of two categories. Nominations need to be submitted by 23:59 on Friday 28 June.

** Digital Innovation Dynamic Purchasing System - An interview with Colin Wood

Dorset Council's Innovation Lead Colin Wood
about the work we are doing to position Dorset as an innovative, forward looking county.
The interview talks about our new Digital Innovation Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) which is a brilliant tool designed to help us scale and diversify an already burgeoning innovation ecosystem developed through our projects like 5G Rural Dorset. The DPS brings together those partners that want to work with us. It allows innovative businesses to sign up to this electronic system at any time and bid for work as soon as it’s advertised.
Within 30 days of its launch in March 2024, 80 companies signed up, demonstrating the sector’s hunger for transformative solutions.

** Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI) - SME Programme

The ATI SME programme is a funded programme tailored to the needs of SMEs to strengthen and further encourage technology innovation within the supply chain and civil aerospace sector.
This competitive funding programme is designed to maximise benefits to SMEs and to support and encourage industrial investment into the aerospace sector and its supply chain, through the funding of innovative and high impact projects.
The SME Programme is coordinated and managed by:
* Department for Business and Trade
* Innovate UK
* Aerospace Technology Institute.

** The Aerospace Technology & Innovation Awards 2024

The Aerospace Technology & Innovation Awards 2024 celebrate the individuals, teams and organisations trailblazing answers to the biggest challenges facing the sector today. The categories are:
* Innovation Award: for most exciting emerging technology
* Shaping the Future Award: for advancing zero-carbon emission flight
* Making the Difference Award: for most impactful small R&D project
* ATI Hub Breakthrough Award: for most promising startup
* Team Award: for successful collaboration and partnership
* ATI Project of the Year.
With the exception of the ATI Project of the Year award, nominations do not need to be in receipt of ATI Programme funding. The Awards are open for nominations until Friday 28^th June.

** Free conference - One Health 2024: We Mean Business

Bournemouth University is set to host the ground-breaking showcase conference ‘One Health 2024: We Mean Business’ on 10 July at Bournemouth University, Gateway Building, BH8 8GP.
Aimed at:
* Businesses looking to develop innovative products and services in human, animal, plant, or environmental health.
* Business leaders from any sector pioneering the next generation of green products; wanting to explore ways they can contribute to meeting global challenges, including from aerospace, marine, or construction, etc.
* Universities and agencies with an interest in enabling businesses to design innovative products following a responsible research approach, drawing on a broad range of expertise.
* Anyone with an interest in the ‘One Health’
approach to innovation.

** Supply Chain Accelerator - Funding round now open
------------------------------------------------------------
To further growth in UK Offshore Wind, simultaneous investment in onshore and coastal infrastructure is vital. While Offshore Wind electricity generation in the UK has thrived, the infrastructure and supply chain have not kept pace.
In direct response to this, The Crown Estate has established a £50 million Supply Chain Accelerator (the Accelerator) fund with the explicit objective of helping catalyse the UK supply chain capacity and capability for offshore wind.
The application window is now open for an initial £10 million first round of funding that will be specifically aimed at UK projects that could support floating offshore wind in the Celtic Sea.
The application process will close on 30 July 2024. Successful projects will be announced from October 2024 following assessment of applications, negotiation of funding and commitment agreements and necessary approvals.

** Farmers: how to apply for funding to improve animal health and welfare
------------------------------------------------------------
Apply for funding for a vet to visit your farm to reduce endemic diseases and conditions, increase animal productivity and improve animal welfare.
This service forms part of the Animal Health and Welfare Pathway. It will provide payments to livestock keepers to fund farm visits by vets. You can get funding for a vet, or a team chosen by a vet, to visit your farm if you keep:
* beef cattle
* dairy cattle
* pigs
* sheep
There are two parts to the service: (1) animal health and welfare review, and (2) endemic disease follow-up. You can choose the vet you want to do these. The review and follow-up are not an inspection or audit.

Dorset LEP provides a fully funded, horizon scanning service to help more Dorset entrepreneurs, SME’s and projects to identify government funds to power their business growth, increase collaborations and drive innovation. The funding landscape is vast and can be difficult to navigate. Dorset LEP’s horizon scanning service will assist business owners and senior leaders in identifying suitable funding competitions for their businesses to bid into. Your business can also take advantage of the fully funded bid writing support service once a suitable funding competition has been identified.

Dorset LEP provides a fully funded, specialist bid writing support service to help more Dorset entrepreneurs, SME’s and projects access government funds to power their business growth, increase collaborations and drive innovation.
