** Launchpad: £3million available soon for Marine and Maritime innovation
------------------------------------------------------------
Innovate UK (IUK), part of UK Research and Innovation, will work with Cornwall Council, Plymouth City Council and Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership to invest up to £3 million in innovation projects.
This funding is from Innovate UK’s Launchpad programme. The Launchpad programme supports the UK government’s goals in the Levelling Up White Paper
is the cluster management organisation for the program.
Following briefings held at the Ocean Tech Expo in June, two further online briefings will be held.
* July 22nd at 2pm to 4pm
* August 29th at 2pm to 4pm
The briefing sessions will provide an opportunity for companies to present their ideas and gain support, partnering advice and signposting guidance from the MUKSW network in addition to details of the competition from IUK.

It is almost a year since the The Building Safety Act 2022 Section 156 commenced. The Fire Safety Order is the primary fire safety legislation in England and Wales, and it applies to all non-domestic premises as well as the communal parts of residential buildings.
You are required to record a fire risk assessment and document your fire safety arrangements.

The One Health 2024 ‘We Mean Business’ Conference brought together a range of experts from business, academia and government to look at real-world practical and commercial applications of the One Health
approach.
The conference, held at Bournemouth University on 10 July, explored how businesses can grow and innovate while also meeting regulations and consumer demand for socially responsible, ethical and environmentally considerate approaches to product development.

The European Space Agency (ESA) and UK Space Agency are hosting an ESA 101 workshop for companies looking for investments in their product development.
Delivered by UK Space Agency in collaboration with ESA, the Cornwall Space Cluster and Space West, this event covers essential topics such as ESA’s industrial policy, current activity and programmes, basics of ESA procurement and how to navigate through ESA STAR.
Key areas of focus for ESA are Green Energy, Maritime Decarbonisation, and Infrastructure.

** England Visitor Attractions: Latest news

This annual survey covers trends for attractions in England regarding visitor numbers and profiles, entrance fees, marketing, funding, and more.
Attractions in England reported an 11% increase in the volume of total visits from 2022 to 2023 with the sector growing due to an increase in overseas visits to attractions (+80% on 2022) and an increase in school trips in 2023.

** A boost for small businesses: Defence Innovation Loans are open for applications

The Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) supported by Innovate UK Loans Ltd (Innovate UK
are working together to offer Defence Innovation Loans.
This service provides an opportunity for single small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with solutions to Defence themed problems to apply for a Defence Innovation Loan of between £100,000 and £1 million with a below market interest rate of 7.4% per annum. This loan can be used to cover up to 100% of eligible project costs to aid the commercialisation of the solution.

** Environment Agency urges farmers to start preparations for winter slurry storage

The Environment Agency (EA) is urging farmers to start their preparations now for winter slurry storage, and to contact the EA if they have any concerns.
Wet weather throughout the year has already put pressures on farms’ storage and if this continues, it is important to have enough storage and a robust back up plan in place.
The EA’s Winter Ready campaign will support farmers across the country facing slurry storage issues.
