News and updates:
East Devon’s first Tiny Forest is taking root in Exmouth
Nearly 100 volunteers, aged three to 96 years old, transformed a 300-square metre area at the edge of a playing field
A tiny forest, made up of more than 600 trees and planted in a space roughly the size of a tennis court, has taken root in Exmouth.

East Devon District Councillors and officers on their visit to NappiCycle
It is anticipated the trial, using a test area in East Devon, could start from Autumn 2024 – this is all subject to permits being obtained.
The next steps for East Devon District Council will be to arrange the specifics of the trial and check the data, information, and finances to ensure the proposal is viable.
Around 40 tonnes of Seaton cliff removed after tension crack
Inspections take place every year. Recent heavy rainfall has caused more debris to slump and fall than normal.
Work to clear 40 tonnes of Seaton Cliff, which was at risk of falling onto West Walk, is complete.
Upgraded coastal defences for Seaton one step closer
Improvements to the rock armour at the foot of the cliffs and repairs to the Check House seawall are planned
Plans are developing for a coastal protection scheme in Seaton that will better protect 41 homes, businesses, and the town’s coastline from erosion.
Play your part to help East Devon’s wild birds
On the Pebblebed Heaths, many birds nest on the ground or in low bushes, which can make them more vulnerable
People and dogs should avoid walking through areas of gorse, heather and other low growing vegetation, because you can easily scare birds or harm their nests.
Are you taking part in the Big Plastic Count?
Thank you for recycling. Your recycling benefits our environment and our economy.
Please recycle as many plastics pots, trays, tubs and bottles as you can in your green recycling sack. There is high demand from British manufactures for recycled polymers to build our circular economy.
Please note we are unable to collect ‘film’ products such as: bread bags, bubble wrap, carrier bags, polythene from the kerbside, as those materials will contaminate the other plastic packaging materials. However some retailers do have front of store take back schemes for film products. To find a store near you with this service, use Recycle Now's search tool.
