We are all deeply saddened to hear about the devastating fire at Poltimore House.
As steadfast supporters of this important East Devon site and in recognition of the dedication and tireless efforts of all the volunteers involved, we extend our heartfelt sympathies to the devoted team at Poltimore House.
The Clyst Valley team, Councillors and colleagues at East Devon District Council have a long and committed relationship with the trustees and volunteers at Poltimore House. Recently, Poltimore House Trust received Innovation and Resilience Funding to establish a café and visitor attraction to generate vital funds for the restoration of the House. We will continue to support the team in every way we can to work towards the continued restoration of this significant and historical landmark.
Poltimore House and gardens are one of the Gems in the Clyst Valley and we hope visitors will soon be able to return to enjoy this special place. We understand that the cafe has been unaffected by the fire and will hopefully be open soon, along with the grounds, once the area around the house has been made safe.
