The elections are fast approaching but you can only take part if you are registered to vote.
It's quick and easy to do online but the deadline is April 16. [
]
Here are some key dates and information:
* The *elections take place on May 2*
* *You need ID if you want to vote at a polling station.* There's more information on our website about acceptable forms of ID including passports and driving licences. [
]
* If you don't have ID, that's not a problem. You just need to *register for a free voter authority certificate* by April 24. It's quick and easy to do online. [
]
* You can also *apply for a postal vote*. It's simple to do online and you don't need ID to vote in this way. [
] The deadline is April 17
* Residents can also *nominate someone to vote on their behalf*, referred to as a proxy vote. Again, you can do this online but it must be done by April 24. [
