Hello there,

Welcome to this week's edition of the Your Life Doncaster newsletter, where we round up all of the latest Doncaster news and information from the last week that matters to you.

This week's top stories:

  • Planning on having a takeaway this weekend?
  • Supported Employment in Doncaster
  • Could you become a buddy?
  • Free school holiday events & activities in Doncaster
  • Are you child's vaccinations up to date?
  • Roadworks: Tickhill Spital & Wheatley Hall Road

Planning on having a takeaway this weekend?

Make sure you know how to recycle right!

If recycling is placed in the wrong bin or box, it can contaminate whole lorry loads of recycling, meaning less of your waste is able to be recycled.

So items such as greasy pizza boxes and polystyrene / plastic cartons should go in your BLACK BIN.

Cans, tins and plastic bottles should go in your blue bin.

For more information on what goes where, please refer to your paper bin collection calendar or check out our handy guide here:

Are your child's vaccinations up to date?

The school holidays are a great time to make sure your child is up to date with their vaccinations before going back to school.

Two doses of the MMR vaccination can offer protection from measles for life, so it’s really important to make sure that you and your loved ones have received it.

You can check if your child had both doses by looking in their Red Book, and check your vaccine records via your GP, or the NHS app. You can book in for a catch up with your GP, for free, at any age.

Roadworks: Tickhill Spital Junction Improvements

A key Doncaster Road is to undergo significant road safety improvements.

The crossroads off the A631 Bawtry Road/Stripe Road/Blyth Road junction, more commonly known at the Tickhill Spital, will be widened to improve junction capacity and new traffic signals will be added. Resurfacing the road and installing new street lighting to the latest standards will form part of the project. The work will make vital road improvements.

This is expected to start on 6 April 2024, and will take approximately 5 months to complete. For everyone's safety, four-way traffic lights will be used for the duration of the works.

Emergency Road Closure: Wheatley Hall Road

Wheatley Hall Road will be closed outbound from the junction with Neale Road to the Clay Lane roundabout, from Monday 1 April. This due to necessary emergency repairs in the carriageway by external contractors Yorkshire Water.

Yorkshire Water have now lined the sewer pipe to seal any leaks.

Once they have connected it up and tested the liner to make sure there are no further leaks then they will start to backfill the excavation before resurfacing an area of the road.

Works are hopefully expected to be complete by 6am on Wednesday 10 April 2024.
