Six-figure cash injection boosts flood defences of Bentley

City of Doncaster Council has been successful in its bid to secure £600,000 worth of government funding to reduce the risk of flooding in Bentley.

Natural processes such as planting trees and wetlands within the immediate area of Bentley Mill Stream and the watercourse corridor will help ‘slow the flow’ of the rain and surface water. Coupled with improving the connectivity to the flood plain, it is expected to primarily improve the flood resilience of the downstream Bentley community whilst also providing biodiversity net gain.

We want to hear from you!

This Sunday: Day of Reflection

On Sunday 3 March, City of Doncaster Council will join people across the country in a Day of Reflection to remember those who died during the Coronavirus pandemic.

A minute's silence will take place at midday and the Mansion House will be lit up in yellow on Sunday evening in memory of those we lost.

Green bin collections have restarted

Green bins are for garden (“green”) waste and will be collected at the same time as your other recyclable materials in the blue bin and green box.

If you have a surplus of garden waste, you can:

  • Pay £42 per year for an additional green bin. This is roughly £2 per collection
  • Take your waste to your nearest Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC)
  • Compost it. This is even more environmentally friendly than recycling as no energy is required for transport or the recycling process
