The Fore’s Funding Programme

The Fore offers unrestricted funding to small charities that are making a big impact and who want to significantly grow, strengthen, become more efficient or resilient.

Unrestricted grants of up to £30,000 is available and can be used for any purpose, including core costs and capital funding.  

Applications will be considered from UK registered charities, community interest companies, charitable incorporated organisations and community benefit societies.

To apply for funding, organisations must first register some basic contact details at the start of the funding round. Once their place on the funding round has been confirmed by email, they have three to four weeks to submit an application.

The Summer Round will close at midday on 4th April, 2024.

The Fore Funding Programme Details

Funding for Songwriters and Composers 

Funding is available to support the development of outstanding UK songwriters and composers of all genres and backgrounds, at different stages of their career.

PRS Foundation's Open Fund for Music Creators can support projects by songwriters, composers, artists, bands, producers and performers who are writing their own music or commissioning others.

Grants of up to £5,000 is available.

The deadline for applications is 6pm on 8th April, 2024.

Museum Estate and Development Fund (MEND) - Final Round Now Open for EOI's 

This is the final round of the Museum Estate and Development Fund (MEND), and there is a total of £23.8 million with grants of between £50,000 and £5 million.

The funding is intended to support museums to become more financially resilient and environmentally responsible, improve access for disabled people, and increase the environmental performance of buildings and equipment to help reduce carbon emissions

There is a two stage application process. The first stage is to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI). Those who are successful will be invited to make a full application.

The deadline for Expressions of Interest is midday on 18th April, 2024.

MEND - Final Round Details

Government Launches £6.4m AI Upskilling Fund for SME's

The Flexible AI Upskilling Fund pilot aims to increase AI adoption and productivity by incentivising greater employer-led investment in skills and training.

This pilot will test whether training SMEs in AI maximises the value of AI adoption. 

£6.4 million of grant funding is available in the financial year 2024-2025. Funding will be allocated through a competitive application exercise.

Expressions of Interest in the pilot can be submitted until 11.59pm on 23rd April, 2024.

Road Safety Trust Accepting Applications for Spring 2024 Small Grants Round

Public and non-profit organisations can now apply for the 2024 funding round of Road Safety Small Grants.

This year, grants of £10,000 to £50,000 for up to 24 months is available.

The funding is for smaller, local projects with a practical focus.

Groups can now book a 1:1 slot with the Grants Team for 9th April or 16th April, 2024.

 The deadline to apply is 24th April, 2024.

Local School Nature Grants Programme Accepting Applications for First 2024 Funding Round

Learning Through Landscapes is offering outdoor learning training sessions and nature equipment for nurseries, schools, and other early learning providers to promote outdoor learning for children.

The Local School Nature Grants Scheme will provide a two-hour outdoor learning training session, along with an assortment of equipment up to the value of £500. 

There are three funding rounds in 2024.

The next deadline for applications is 26th April, 2024.

7 Stars Foundation Accepting Applications for Second 2024 Funding Round

7Stars Foundation is offering grants of up to £2,500 for registered charities to deliver projects and activities that support young people aged 16 years and under across the priority themes of abuse, addiction, child carers, and homelessness.

The next deadline for applications is 30th April, 2024.

Baring Foundation Offers Funding for Small Expert Legal Hub Organisations

Civil society organisations in the UK can apply now for grants of up to £150,000 over three years to use legal action collaboratively to achieve positive social change.

The unrestricted grants can support hub activities which use legal action in all its forms, whether that is to empower individuals and groups, persuade public and private bodies, challenge government, or a mix of all three. 

There is a two-stage application process. Organisations that would like to speak to a member of the Baring Foundation staff before submitting their expression of interest should email the Baring Foundation by midday on 16th April, 2024 to arrange a time.

The deadline for Expressions of Interest is 30th April, 2024.

Tesco and The Sun Offer 150 One-off Grants Through the Footie for All Fund

Tesco and the newspaper, The Sun, have joined together for a second year to provide a total of £150,000 to encourage more children and young people to take up football or improve access to the game.

Constituted not-for-profit grassroots football clubs can apply for grants of up to £1,000 which will support 100% of project costs.

The funding can be used to assist clubs in improving facilities, purchasing equipment and new kits, and meeting any other needs that can enhance the experience of children and young people, enabling them to access and participate in football within the local community.

The deadline for applications is 11.59pm on 30th April, 2024.

Footie for All Fund Details

Schools Supporting Service Children Can Apply Now for Funding

The Government’s ‘Service Pupil Support Programme’ has opened for a new round of funding and will award grants of £5,000 to £80,000 to projects supporting Service children along their educational pathway.

Applications can only address the needs of children aged 4-18 in full-time statutory education, who are from currently serving Armed Forces families. This includes pupils whose parents are on full commitment as part of the full-time Reserve Service.

The deadline for applications is midday on 8th May, 2024.

Lloyds Bank Foundation Announces Racial Equity Programme 

This year, the Racial Equity Programme will be providing 42 unrestricted grants of £75,000 over three years (£25,000 per year) with tailored development support to registered charities and community interest companies which are led by and working with people who are experiencing economic inequity because of the race or ethnicity.

In 2024, the Foundation will favour applications from Wales and Yorkshire and Humber.

A free information webinar and live Q&A panel will be held on 24th April, 2024 (10:30 am to 12:00 pm). Registration is required and can be done via eventbrite.

The 2024 application window will close at 5pm on 31st May, 2024. 

Racial Equity Programme Details

Big Bike Revival Grants Programme Details 

The Big Bike Revival Grants Programme will support events and activities that use the ‘fix-learn-ride’ model to provide sessions for people groups that are underrepresented in cycling.

Grants of up to £3,500 are available for voluntary and community cycle groups.

Funding is for activities delivered between 29 March 2024 and 31 October 2024.

The deadline for applications is 25th June, 2024.

Community Ownership Fund Accepting Expressions of Interest for Final Round

The Government has announced that ahead of the launch of the fourth and final round of the £150 million Community Ownership Fund (COF), it has published a new Expression of Interest (EOI) form.

The Community Ownership Fund helps community groups buy or renovate assets that would otherwise be lost to the community. 

Only applicants who submitted an EOI in the new system will be informed when a bidding window is about to open and will receive the link needed to apply to the fund.

Expressions of Interest are currently being accepted. 

Final Round of Community Ownership Fund Details

DfE’s Trust Capacity Fund 2023-25 Accepting Applications

The Department for Educations (DfE) is accepting applications for funding to help multi-academy trusts develop their capacity and take on underperforming schools, particularly in education investment areas.

Local Academy Trust and local authority-maintained schools forming a multi-academy trust (MAT) can apply now for grants ranging from £50,000 to £100,000. Trusts need to have a growth project approved by a regional director from 1 January 2024.

Applications linked to growth projects which involve multiple schools are more likely to be successful.

The deadline for window 4 applications is 25th June, 2024. 

Trust Capacity Fund Details

Climate Action Fund - Our Shared Future Opens for Applications

The funding is for formal partnership working across sectors, led by community and voluntary organisations or public sector organisations for projects that reach more people by either: 

  • Linking climate action to the everyday lives and interests of local communities and inspiring them to take action.
  • Influencing communities at a regional or national level.

The funding is intended to reach people who are new to climate action by funding other types of organisations and by using other using people's everyday activities and interests as a starting point for climate action.

NLCF is holding the following information sessions:

  • 16th May, 2024 (11:00 to 12 noon)
  • 21st May, 2024 (14:00 to 15:00)

Advanced registration is required and can be done on the NLCF website.

Applications will be accepted until at least 31st December, 2024. 

Climate Action Fund Details

New Funding to Drive Strategic Investment in Freeports and Investment Zones

The Investment Opportunity Fund has been established to complement the objectives of the Investment Zones and Freeports programmes, which seek to develop clusters in areas in need of levelling up, by providing a separate source of funding that government will use to help unlock strategically significant investment from specific companies in these areas, in support of both national and local economic priorities.

The Fund is intended provide a flexible, agile pot of funding that government can use to secure and respond to opportunities as they emerge.

Projects that could be suitable for support are based on the following initial parameters:  

  • Based in a Freeport or an Investment Zone. 
  • Projects must help unlock new investment from a specific company. 
  • Projects must be within one of the government’s five priority sectors. 

The government expects the fund to be used for urgent, well developed investment proposals. The funding request must fall between a minimum value of £1 million and a maximum of £25 million.

The Fund is now open and will operate for five years.

Launch of £660m Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II for Small Businesses 

The Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II (NPIF II) aims to increase the supply and diversity of early-stage finance for smaller businesses, providing funds to firms that might not otherwise receive investment, thereby helping to break down barriers in access to finance.

The Fund aims to help business owners deliver their business ambitions, including:

  • Leasing new commercial premises.
  • Hiring a new team.
  • Funding marketing costs.
  • Purchasing new machinery or equipment.
  • Launching a new product or service.

Small and medium-sized enterprises with growth potential that are setting up or operating in the North of England are eligible to apply.

Support can be accessed at any time.
