Commonweal is Seeking New Housing Ideas for Vulnerable Young People
Commonweal Housing is offering up to four grants of between £5,000 and £10,000 to carry out a short-term feasibility study to evaluate a housing and support model aimed at supporting young people over the age of 18 years.
This Call for New Ideas is exclusively focused on models aimed at supporting young people over the age of 18 who have had:
- Experience of the care system
- Experience with mental health problems or are neurodivergent
- Difficult experiences in the education system, particularly those who faced serial exclusion
Frontline not-for-profit organisations in the UK may apply.
The deadline to apply is 5pm on 19th April, 2024.
Community Development Support Fund
Grants of £25,000 are now available for local community organisations who provide a friendly, inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of the community to come together for a chat, activities, and to receive support.
Doncaster’s Choose Kindness movement celebrates and champions kindness across the city.
The Community Development Support (CDS) fund looks to support the Choose Kindness movement by funding inclusive activities that create community cohesion, understanding and respect. These could be new activities and projects, or extending current provision to residents.
For example, these projects could include, but are not limited to: improving digital skills, mental health and wellbeing activities, culture and heritage sessions, employment and housing support, or arts and crafts activities.
Applications must be received by 29th April 2024, please submit all applications to:

Austin and Hope Pilkington Trust Opens for Second Round of 2024
Round two offers grants of £5,000 for projects that are focused on disability, specifically employment and training for people living with disabilities to ensure better access.
Applications will be accepted during the month of April from UK registered charities or organisations.
Applications will not be accepted from CICs or non-profit organisations. The funding cannot be used for capital projects, minibuses or other vehicles.
Charities can only apply for one round per calendar year.
The deadline for round two applications is 30th April, 2024.
Comic Relief Launches Community Justice Fund
Comic Relief’s new Community Justice Fund is offering grants of £200,000 to £450,000 over three to five years for not-for-profit organisations.
Applications will only be accepted from ‘Led By and For’ organisations specialising in racial justice and/or gender justice, registered and delivering work in Northeast England, Wales, West Midlands and/or Yorkshire and the Humber.
The aim of the Community Justice Fund is to help organisations address the challenges of inequitable structures and systems, resources and opportunities in society, which inevitably lead to social injustice.
Comic Relief is providing information sessions:
- 19th April (10:00-11:00).
- 25th April (14:00-15:00).
Registration is required and can be done via the Comic Relief website.
The deadline for funding applications is noon on 2nd May, 2024.
Community Energy Fund
The latest round of the Community Energy Fund - managed locally by the North East and Yorkshire Net Zero Hub – is open for applications.
Community organisations have just over a month to apply for up to £140,000 of funding to get their local clean energy, clean heat, bulk-buy and energy advice projects off the ground.
A Stage 1 grant of up to £40k is available for a feasibility study to establish the technical and financial viability of a project. A Stage 2 grant of up to £100k is available for a more detailed investigation of the technology, for planning applications and to develop a business case.
The closing date for applications is midnight on 5th May, 2024.
