Money Management

Whether you need help with budgeting and managing your money, or guidance on what support is available to you, there is lots of information on Your Life Doncaster.

The Money Helper website also has information on how to save money on household bills and reducing your energy bills. Visit the Energy Saving Trust for quick tips to save energy.

Citizens Advice Doncaster have information on grants and benefits available to help with energy bills, there’s also a handy guide on checking how much your appliances cost to use.

Citizens Advice: Changes to Debt Relief Orders

A Debt Relief Orders (DRO) is a legal application that can cancel most of a person's debt. Some debts are excluded such as Magistrate’s Court fines, Child Maintenance arrears, student loans and fraudulent debts.

To currently qualify for a Debt Relief Order, you must have debts under £30,000, assets below £2,000, and surplus monthly income of £75 or less. Later this year, the debt limit will increase to £50,000 and asset limit will increase to below £4000. There is currently a £90.00 application fee, payable by everyone, regardless of income or circumstances, but as of April 6, this administration fee will be removed.

You must have a qualified debt adviser who is a DRO intermediary submit the DRO application. Citizens Advice has DRO intermediaries who can assist you.

Childcare Choices: Are you a parent of a 2, 3, or 4 year old?

Do you know about the changes to childcare funding for all working parents/carers or parents/carers looking to return to work?

From April 2024, parents/carers of 2 year olds can now claim up to 15 hours of funded childcare for 38 weeks of the year. Parents/carers of 3 and 4 year olds can claim up to 30 hours of funded childcare for 38 weeks of the year.

Service your boiler this Spring!

Spring cleaning season is a great time to think about getting your boiler serviced, giving you peace of mind that it will be there for you when winter hits later this year.

Find a gas safe registered engineer and Trustmark tradesman to service your boiler.

Gas boilers and fires that aren’t regularly serviced could increase risks of carbon monoxide poisoning, find out more to stay safe

Now is also a great time to check you are claiming all the help you are entitled to – speak to your Doncaster citizens advice. You can also check to see if you are eligible for government funded grants, including insulation schemes, to help keep your home warm.

Community Health Van

As you may have seen, Primary Care Doncaster have a new Health Van, known as Vincent Van-Cough!

The Health Van Service makes stops in communities so that everyone, regardless of whether you may be registered with your local GP practice or not, can access FREE high-quality healthcare. The van is staffed by GPs, nurses and other healthcare staff who work locally in Doncaster. 

You can find the health van this week at:
