International Women's Day is coming up this week (Friday 8 March), a day to celebrate women, as well as highlighting challenges that women face.

There is so much going on across Doncaster that you can get involved in. From workshops to Doncaster's Reclaim the Night walk, you can find a full itinerary below.


Women's Health Drop in

Come along to a free women's health drop in, held at Rutland House, DN1 2BF, from 10am-3pm. You can pop in for:

  • Cervical Smears (if you have had a letter saying you are due)
  • HRT / Menopause advice
  • Contraceptive counselling
  • BP checks
  • Screening Advice 

Car parking spaces and refreshments are available.

Body Image through time

To celebrate international women's day Doncaster Gallery Library and Museum are hosting a free workshop exploring women's body image through time.

Join us Friday 8 March 2-4pm, at DGLAM. To book your free places email yourmemories@doncaster.gov.uk.


International Women's Day at the Archives!

There's lots to see this International Women's Day at Doncaster Archives, including:

  • A new exhibition about the miners strike, with a community loan in the exhibition of two sets of badges one belonging to a woman called Erica who was an active member of the Thorne Women’s Support Group during the strike.
  • You can also check out HerStory: A Walk Through Time, a project all about six historic women’s impact in Doncaster. From mountaineers, footballers and fundraisers- the women of Doncaster's past have some fantastic stories to tell.

Women's Health Facebook Live

Primary Care Doncaster are hosting a Facebook Live Event to mark International Women's Day! They will be live on Facebook, on Friday, 8 March, at 5:30pm for an engaging discussion with Dr Karen Forshaw on topics surrounding women's health.

From smear tests and HRT, to general women’s well-being, Dr Forshaw will be on hand to answer all your questions and help you understand more about women’s health in a supportive and open forum.

Doncaster's Reclaim the Night Event!

All are welcome for Doncaster’s Reclaim the Night event. Meet at 6pm at the Mansion House, 45 HIGH ST, DN1 1BN for Doncaster’s Reclaim the Night walk. Join Us for to celebrate International Women’s Day on 8 March at 6pm.

We will be walking to Sir Nigel Gresley Square for speeches, from 6:30 to 7pm.

Reclaim the night aims to raise awareness about violence against women and girls, and to advocate for safer communities for everyone. You can find out more about what City of Doncaster Council and partners are doing about it through the council website.
