No Blame No Shame campaign [

No blame. No shame
Did you know, 73% of UK adults have been targeted by scams, with 35% losing money because of this criminal offence, but fewer than a third report the crime to the authorities.
Friends Against Scams believe the shame and worry can put victims off reporting scams, and they have launched the No blame no shame campaign [
] to help reduce the stigma.
Here's some ways you can help:
* Change the language you use to describe victims. Remember: No blame. No shame.
* Talk to your friends and family about fraud, scams and financial abuse. Share your stories and help to raise awareness.
* Protect yourself and loved ones from fraud and scams by taking the Friends Against Scams online training [
].

Trading Standards Officer impersonators
We have received a report of someone impersonating a Trading Standards Officer.
If you are contacted by someone claiming to be a Trading Standards Officer and you’re unsure if they’re genuine, there are ways you can check:
* If you are cold-called at home by someone who says they are from Heart of the South West Trading Standards, ask for their ID – a genuine Trading Standards Officer will be able to show you their warrant card.
* If you are still unsure, phone My Devon on 01392 381381 and ask them to confirm the person works for Heart of the South West Trading Standards.
* If the person has unexpectedly called you on the phone and you’re not sure if they’re genuine, ask for their name and hang up, then call My Devon on 01392 381381 and ask to be put through to the officer.
Remember: no genuine Trading Standards Officer will ask you for money, or unexpectedly ask for your personal/financial details.
If someone does this, it will be a scam. You can report it by calling My Devon on 01392 381381.

Funeral scams warning
Scammers are targeting recently bereaved families with bogus donation forms and fake online funeral streaming services.
The scam begins with criminals seeking out funeral notices. They then set up fake Facebook accounts that offer opportunities to donate money in memory of the recently deceased, or to watch a live stream of their funeral.
In either case, the postings are fraudulent and a cynical ploy to extract money from mourning friends and relatives.
