We're launching a campaign to combat the problem of inconsiderately parked cars blocking access to roads, meaning bins sometimes can't be emptied and sadly overflow. Our wagons are heavy and wide, so the drivers need to be certain they can safely travel down a street and manoeuvre without causing any damage to other vehicles or property.
If this isn’t the case, they cannot empty your bins. Understandably, this leaves households disappointed, particularly when it's just one poorly parked vehicle impacting the entire street's collection.

[Final stage of Bakewell Road improvements]

Derbyshire Dales District Council is gearing up to complete the final stage of improvements to the bus station and taxi rank in Matlock's Bakewell Road.
It follows the completion of external works to the highway by the District Council’s partner Derbyshire County Council, comprising reprofiling of the bus bay in front of M&S, new kerbing to the exit of the bus station, new pedestrian tactile crossing, resurfaced footways and line marking.

[Bakewell to host 'Green' event]

Derbyshire Dales District Council’s third annual ‘Green Event’ event at the Agricultural Business Centre (ABC) in Bakewell will showcase solutions to the climate and biodiversity crisis. The free-to-enter, family-friendly event on Saturday 17 August - running from 10am to 3pm – will encourage residents, businesses and visitors to reduce their carbon footprint by saving energy, generating less waste, becoming more active and encouraging biodiversity in their gardens. [Early bird tickets flying for Illuminations]

Early Bird tickets are flying for the District Council's Matlock Bath Illuminations, which run this year every weekend from 7 September to 27 October. Tickets can be bought now at 2023 prices - and during this period accompanied under 16s go free. We have fireworks finales every October Saturday and on Sunday 27 October.
