Have your say on our children and family wellbeing services
We want to hear from as many people as possible about their experiences of using our children and family wellbeing services.
To have your say please complete our online survey.
We want to hear from everyone of all ages who have used, or currently use, our services. But we also want to hear from those who have children but have not used the services available to them.
Our Family Wellbeing Programme [
] is transforming the support services provided to families and children aged 0 to 19, and up to age 25 for young people with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND). We want this transformation to be driven by the needs of families and local communities.
Services include (some of which we commission and are provided by other organisations):
* Health visitor services for new borns and their parents
* Public health nursing services for 5-19 year olds
* SEND support. This includes our short break services
* Targeted Youth Support
By placing a greater emphasis on the provision of early help and preventative services, we aim to provide targeted support where it is needed, at an earlier stage and prevent issues from escalating.
*As a thank you, there is a chance of winning a £100 Amazon gift card.
*
So if you are a recent mum, a teenager, a dad, or a grandparent - we want to hear from you about the experiences you have had.
Closing date to complete the survey is 15 March 2024.

Why we are consulting and how to find out more
Cllr Emma Williamson
Commenting on the consultation, Councillor Emma Williamson, Deputy Leader and Executive Member for Children's and Family Support, said:
"“It’s so important that every child has the opportunity to reach their potential; we want every child in Cumberland to have a nurturing and supportive environment so they can thrive. "
"“We have an opportunity now to re-shape our family support services so they better meet the needs of Cumberland’s families.
We want to put the voices of our communities at the heart of this work and co-design our future services together.
I’d urge families to come along to one of our events and share their views, or to take part in the online survey.”"
You can listen to Cllr Williamson talk on our podcast with Andrea King our Assistant Director Early Help, Prevention and Youth Justice, about the services being consulted on and our ambitious plans to make them even better for residents.

Help us shape the future of waste services
Bin lorry
Cumberland Council is inviting residents to have their say and play a key role in developing the future of Cumberland’s waste collection services.
You can give us your views by either completing an online survey [
], which should take around five minutes to complete, or by attending one of the drop-in roadshows:
* Friday 8 March, 10am – 2pm, at Wigton Market
* Wednesday 13 March,10am – 2pm, at Booths Keswick
* Saturday 16 March, 10am – 3pm, at Whitehaven Entrepreneurs Market
During these roadshows, you will have the opportunity to interact with the council’s knowledgeable staff, discussing waste services and discovering ways to enhance recycling habits. Paper copies of the survey will be available at the road shows, some information banners on recycling, and a couple of interactive games to make the attendance experience even more enjoyable.

Councillor Denise Rollo, Cumberland Council’s Executive Member for Sustainable, Resilient and Connected Places, said:
"“We would like to encourage our residents to complete the online survey, which will take around five minutes to complete, this way we can listen to the comments and really focus on what residents want for the future of waste collections."
"“This proactive approach shows the council's dedication to understanding the diverse needs and expectations of its residents, ensuring that the resulting waste collection service is not only effective but also reflective of the unique requirements of the Cumberland community."
"“With a total of nine roadshows spread across the Cumberland patch, our aim is to ensure a well-distributed and diverse attendance of residents. We look forward to welcoming as many people as possible to these events, fostering a mix of outlooks and insights”."
