When you are requesting support for a child with emerging SEND needs, you are now invited to use the new Specialist Support Request Form which you can find here on the Cumberland Local Offer - Templates and Resources
Please scroll down to the form entitled Specialist Input Request Form (ie: Educational Psychologist [EP], Specialist Advisory Teachers [SATs])
You are no longer required to complete or register an Early Help Assessment if the child’s needs are SEND only and are not wider needs.
However if the child has wider needs, please follow the Early Help process as described on the CSCP website - Early Help : Cumbria County Council (cumbriasafeguardingchildren.co.uk)
There is also a new form when requesting an Education Health and Care (EHC) Needs Assessment for a child in the early years on the Cumberland Local Offer - Templates and Resources

These termly meetings give setting SENCOs the opportunity to keep up to date with SEN practices and procedures. For the summer meeting we will get an update from Speech Therapy on their new resources and website.

Applications for the next round of SENIF need to be sent in by 31st May 2024 for funding to commence April or September (depending on age of child)

Level 3 SENCO award for PVI SENCOs and childminders: free face to face course – register your interest
LAST FEW PLACES AVAILABLE
Cumberland Early Years team is pleased to be able to offer a limited number of free places on the accredited NCFE Cache Level 3 Award for Special Education Needs Coordinator in Early Years Settings. This programme is for Early Years SENCOs or aspiring SENCOs working in the Private, Voluntary and Independent sector (including childminders) who want to gain a qualification and recognition for their role as an Early Years SENCO. It will support them to develop strategies, practices and policy to ensure children with SEND are able to make progress and meet their potential.
The training consists of 12.5 days face to face training plus some independent study. It will take place between September 2024 and May 2025.
