Planning ahead for the new academic year
Parenta have produced a useful planning guide for early years settings on things that you may wish to consider as you prepare for the new academic year. Whilst we recognise that many of you operate all year round, providing care and education throughout the summer period, we think that you will still find this helpful as you reflect and start to prepare for the arrival of many new children and families – Strategies for the new academic year [
]
Please also remember to use the Early Years Transitions toolkit and think about how to incorporate this into your planning right across the year - Support for Childminders, Early Years and Childcare Provision | Cumberland Council [
]
see Transition Toolkit tab.

Children’s charity ERIC has launched a new campaign to support children starting school in September to get ready to use toilets independently, and to remove some of the stigma associated with toilet training.
Families can sign up for useful, easy to follow information on ‘Hop aboard the Toilet Train!’ here: All aboard the Toilet Train: Get ready for school - ERIC [
