Recruitment Incentives for the Early Years Sector – Are you recruiting or about to appoint an apprentice to a permanent post?
Recruitment campaign
Cumberland has been selected by the Department for Education as one of the pilot areas for a scheme that is aimed at attracting new entrants to the early years sector. *Please find the application form here* *if you would like to apply to offer the £1000 incentive: Recruitment Incentives application form April to December 2024.doc [
]*
New recruits will receive a £1,000 bonus shortly after they start their first role in childcare after completing an apprenticeship, or if they return to a childcare role after a gap of at least six months. They can work full or part time, and must spend at least 70% of their time working directly with children.
If you appoint a new employee, please apply if they meet the criteria.

*DfE Update*
Tax-Free Childcare and Working Parents Entitlement application delays for some parents
The DfE are aware of increased queries from parents regarding delays in receiving an outcome on their Tax-Free Childcare or Working Parents Entitlement application.
The vast majority of applications for Tax-Free Childcare and the Working Parents Entitlement are being processed without delay – although HMRC have reported an unusually high volume of applications requiring additional manual checks. These particular applications can take longer to process, as can those Tax-Free Childcare applications involving manual top-ups.
HMRC are working hard to process all applications as quickly as possible and apologise for the fact that in some cases customers are being asked to wait a little longer.
