Recruitment Incentives for the Early Years Sector – Briefing sessions
Recruitment
Cumberland Council has been selected by the Department for Education as one of the pilot areas for a scheme that is aimed at attracting new entrants to the early years sector. The pilot will run from April to December 2024
New recruits will receive a £1,000 bonus shortly after they start their first role in childcare, or if they return to a childcare role after a gap of at least six months.
To be eligible for the incentive, new employees must work in group based early years settings or the nursery class within a school. Childminders and those working in Reception classes are not eligible.
We will be holding two briefing sessions for schools and settings prior to the launch of the scheme. Please look out for further information by email including links to the briefings on:
*Monday 25th March: 2pm – 2.30pm and 6pm – 6.30pm*

Safer Sleep Week 11th - 15th March 2024
Safer Sleep Week
This week is Safer Sleep Week
*The theme for this year’s Safer Sleep Week campaign is "the safest place. "*
Safer Sleep Week is the Lullaby Trust's national awareness campaign targeting anyone looking after a young baby. It aims to raise awareness of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and the simple advice that reduces the risk of it occurring.
*The **safest place campaign will show parents and carers the simplest way to create a safe sleep space for their baby that will help to protect their vulnerable airway and reduce the risk of SIDS and accidents.*
The Lullaby Trust have developed a short video about products that aren't recommended for safe sleeping. You can access the video here [

SEND Partnership Facebook page – Cumberland
Cumberland SEND Partnership
Please note that from Friday 15 March, the Cumbria SEND Partnership Facebook page will become the Cumberland SEND Partnership page, (with a separate Westmorland and Furness SEND Partnership page in place).
The page is used to share news, information, events, resources, and stories from the local area and wider that may be of interest to young people with SEND and /or their families. You can find the page here (please note that prior to 15 March, the page will still be branded as the Cumbria SEND Partnership). [
]
This change is happening following the Cumbria SEND Partnership recently splitting into two new local area partnerships, after Local Government Reorganisation took place in Cumbria.
