Welcome to the August edition of the Cotswold Roundup!

As we head towards the autumn, I wanted to remind residents we are on the hunt for Volunteer Flood Wardens. With flooding an ongoing problem in our district, we need more people to act as the ‘eyes and ears’ in our communities to help to prepare for, respond to, and recover from flooding events.

This is vital in providing us with important local information during a flood event. As a Flood Warden you might be part of a group working with your Parish Council to bring together a Community Emergency Plan, or you could work to inform relevant parties about blockages when you see a warning of a storm approaching. For more information in becoming a Flood Warden or Community Emergency Planning read more below.

Meanwhile, with many residents across the district already giving up their time to help out with voluntary projects, we have launched a new award scheme. The ‘Unsung Heroes Awards’ will celebrate the invaluable contribution local people make in our communities. We are asking residents and businesses to nominate anyone who they think has made a difference in their area.

You can nominate your local hero using the Unsung Heroes webpage via the link below.

Kind regards,

Cllr Mike Evemy

Get ready for autumn with garden waste collections
image

As we roll towards autumn there are still plenty of jobs to do in the garden. In fact, over a third of all the garden waste we collect from Cotswold homes is produced during the autumn and winter months.

So, whether you have an abundance of leaves, you're busy dead heading summer blooms, clearing the borders or cutting back hedges now that the bird nesting season is at an end, remember our garden waste service offers regular collections from the convenience of the kerbside.
