Hear about why businesses in Truro have signed up to the scheme.
Cornwall businesses support breastfeeding
This week is World Breastfeeding Week and our Breastfeeding Welcome scheme’s first birthday, too

Funded through the Government’s Start for Life programme, the Breastfeeding Welcome scheme is a way for cafés, restaurants and other venues (including many Council buildings) to show that they welcome and support new mums who want to breastfeed.

By law, women have a right to breastfeed in any public place, but many mums feel nervous about doing so. This can mean they end-up staying at home when their baby is born, which can make them feel lonely and isolated. Or that they choose not to breastfeed or stop feeding before they want to.

Over 100 venues across Cornwall have already signed up to the scheme and display a special sticker in their window to let mums know they support their right to breastfeed and welcome them doing so in their venue.

Take a look at this short video, to see why businesses in Truro have signed up to the scheme.

The Journey, a video about taking the first steps in the adoption process
Begin your adoption journey

The Journey - a video from Adopt Southwest – features real families on car journeys talking about how, like a family day out, adoption is a journey full of adventure, plenty of pot holes, wrong turns and no map. But also lots of laughter and love.

Adoptive parents have been sharing the ups and downs of their adoption journey to inspire others to take their first steps toward growing their family.

There are now more children in need of adoption than people coming forward to adopt. Nearly half of those children waiting for adoption will wait more than 18 months to find their forever home.

Watch The Journey to hear more.
