West Cornwall rubbish collection news

New food waste, rubbish and recycling collections start in the West Cornwall area from 1 July. Don't forget we'll only be collecting rubbish put in the new bin or protective sack we've given to you to use with the new service.

If you have an existing bin you’re using, you might want to keep it and repurpose it - as garden storage perhaps, to store firewood or as a giant planter!

If not, we can collect your old bin once your new service has started and recycle it. If you'd like us to collect your old rubbish bin please request this by midnight on 3 July.

If you haven’t received your new bins yet don’t worry, we haven’t got to everyone yet, so you’ll receive them by the end of June.

If you love children and want to work in your own home at times that suit you, becoming a childminder could be the perfect career choice for you.

You can train on the job, follow your passions and share them with children in your care, and be there to nurture them. You can also choose how to do learning each day, whether it's going to the park, reading books, or doing crafts.

We've been celebrating Berryfields, Victoria Square, and Midway Road parks in Bodmin becoming voluntary smoke-free zones!

The event, at Berryfields Park, brought the community together for a day of fun activities and positive conversations with local organisations.

Every child deserves clean air, free from second-hand smoke.

Exposure to second-hand smoke is linked to numerous health risks and increases the likelihood of children taking up smoking in the future.
