🍽 Easter holiday supermarket vouchers

image

The UK Government is continuing to provide food support during the Easter holiday under the Household Support Fund.

BCP Council Family Information Service can provide a £30 food voucher for eligible pre-school age children living in Bournemouth, Christchurch or Poole.

To be eligible for a voucher, children must be aged 0 to five, have not yet started school, live in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole and currently meet at least one of the following criteria:
  • receiving early years pupil premium funding for three and four year olds at an early years setting in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole in the spring term (please note that this is different to the early education funding that all three and four year olds receive)
  • receiving two year old early education funding at an early years setting in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole in the spring term
  • currently have an open case with social worker and/or Early help family support worker and of pre-school age.
The application form closes at 11pm on Wednesday 27 March 2024.

If you received food vouchers for the February holiday and have not received an email advising that you are still eligible, please contact the Family Information Service on 01202 093131 to discuss, rather than complete the application form. It may mean that your child is no longer eligible under that criteria, and the team will advise of alternative solutions / actions.

Vouchers for school aged children will be issued directly by the school.

You can still help shape family hub services
image

We are changing the way we deliver family hub services and we would like your views on what support is important to help you and your family.

Family hubs are welcoming and friendly places you can go when you need some help or advice. They are for all families with children and young people from birth to 19 years old, and up to 25 years for those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Your views will help shape how we deliver these services in the future.

The consultation has been extended to Friday 22 March.

🥦 Food Waste Action Week - 18 to 24 March
image
During this week, the focus is on encouraging everyone to “Choose What You’ll Use” by opting for loose fruit and vegetables instead of packaged ones.

The idea is simple: when you buy loose produce, you can select exactly what you need, reducing the chances of food going to waste. In fact, if all apples, bananas, and potatoes were sold loose, we could save a whopping 60,000 tonnes of food waste!
So next time you’re shopping, consider going loose and making a positive impact on both your wallet and the environment. Learn more and do the quiz in the link below. 🍎🥕🍌
