** Welcome to the June issue of initiatives+

This newsletter is issued every month with the latest news and events in our area, details of schemes and projects that will benefit our residents and businesses, as well as relevant national and local updates.
** Register to vote in the UK General Election
------------------------------------------------------------
Now that a General Election has been announced for 4 July 2024, we are reminding residents of the need to register to vote
by midnight on 18 June.
The last day to apply for, or make a change to, a postal vote
- so that someone can vote on your behalf - is 5pm on 26 June.
Please remember that when you go to a polling station, you'll need your photo ID to vote in the election. Find out more about the accepted forms of ID

** Open air painting sessions
------------------------------------------------------------
Explore the vibrant colours of the district this June with free open-air painting sessions, as part of the Culture Spark programme. The first event takes place in Chichester's Bishop's Palace Gardens on 8 June (10am-4pm), followed by a second session at Midhurst's Woolbeding Gardens on 21 June (11am-4pm) and a final workshop at Petworth House on 29 June (11am-4pm).
Led by professional artists, the sessions are open to people aged 16 and over. To find out more and to register to attend, please email: culturespark2022@gmail.com
** Dinosaurs exhibition

Don't miss our ‘Dinosaurs: Hungry Hatchlings’ exhibition, which has just launched at The Novium Museum in Chichester! Find out how even the largest dinosaurs started life as eggs and tiny hatchlings. Find out more and book
** Supporting local food suppliers
------------------------------------------------------------
Local food businesses are being encouraged to commit to stocking or using six local food producers from the district as part of the Sussex Six campaign to build local food supply chains. Find out more
** Step into summer!

Step into summer with the latest programme
of HeartSmart walks being offered by Chichester Wellbeing. Walks are led by volunteer walk leaders and are designed to cater for all ages and abilities. New walkers are always welcome.

** Priory Park dig - public day
------------------------------------------------------------
Members of the public are invited to find out what has been discovered as part of an archaeological dig at Chichester’s Priory Park on Saturday 1 June. Chichester District Council’s archaeologist James Kenny will be giving talks at 10am; 12noon; and 3pm about what the team have uncovered.
