The Great Big Green Week, 8-16 June 2024, is the UK’s biggest celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature. West Cheshire is getting involved with a packed week of events.

Libraries are getting on board with the Great Big Green Week by offering jigsaw swaps, special events, advice sessions and activities for children.

Chester Green Weekend
*Chester Green Weekend – across the city
**15 - 16 June*
*Chester Green Weekend* is a new event to Chester which will be part of the national Great Big Green Week. [
] It has come from a collaboration of Chester Great and Small [
] Ambassadors who are responsible for various sustainable activities, including AT Fest, Green Expo, Sustainable Cheshire Fair (Eco Communities) and the Oh design Foundation.
Join in with fun activities taking place around the city and in Grosvenor Park, focused on raising the awareness of what we can all do to tackle the climate and nature emergency. This free event features activities, workshops, walks, stalls, food and entertainment.

Chester Green Weekend Grosvenor Park
*Chester Green Weekend – Grosvenor Park

The *Sustainable Living Zone* and *Nature Zone* in Grosvenor Park*, *organised by Eco Communities [
]*,* is where you will find artisan stalls, food, drink and music. The *Nature Zone* will be full of family-friendly, fun activities from the likes of Chester Zoo and Cheshire Wildlife Trust. Chester's first *Luggage Rummage *will also be taking place. To take part in the Luggage Rummage, bring two suitcases of pre-loved, homemade or surplus crops down to Grosvenor Park, sign in with the Eco Communities team and pay the £10 fee on either Saturday or Sunday. The *Innovation Zone* by Green Expo [
] will move from Castle Drive to the park this year. They will have exciting eco-friendly exhibits, insightful talks, and opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals. Whether you’re passionate about sustainability, interested in renewable energy, or just curious about living a greener lifestyle, this event is for you. Come and explore the latest in green technology, eco-friendly products, and innovative solutions.

Aimed at all ages and abilities, the Active Travel Festival (ATfest) in Chester’s Townhall Square, will be fun and informative, with the purpose to promote active travel as the natural choice for those short journeys - to school, work or the shops.

Join a Sustainable Talk with an interesting panel of speakers as part of a People Planet Pint event, hosted by Chester Great and Small and Eco Communities and followed by Eco Communities’ regular People Planet Pint event.

**Wilding documentary at Chester Picturehouse

Based on Isabella Tree’s best-selling book by the same title, Wilding tells the story of a young couple that bets on nature for the future of their failing, four-hundred-year-old estate. This is a Great Big Green Week preview and includes a recorded question and answer session.

The conference has been designed to help young people from across the region to see their place in a Net Zero future. Students from secondary schools, colleges and further education are invited to design the futures they want to see for the region, including the roles they want to play through their future career choices.
