Household waste recycling centres
As part of the essential savings measures for this year, and due to increasing operating costs, the emergency reduction of household waste recycling centres (HWRCs) in the borough has been agreed.
Four core sites will remain open in Alsager, Crewe, Macclesfield and Knutsford.
The emergency closure of Bollington, Poynton and Middlewich HWRCs is currently targeted to take place in the next two to three months.
We are working to ensure that the transition is as smooth as possible and as part of this, will be putting in place mitigation measures.
The council's budget for 2024/25 was agreed on 27 February, which will protect vital services and focus council funds on providing support where it will make the most difference. You can read more information on the council's budget on our website.

National Supported Internships Day
Yesterday (27 March), we marked National Supported Internships Day by hosting an event for local businesses.
Funded by a government grant, and held at The Space, Congleton, the event brought local businesses together to let them know all about our supported internships programme and how this can help boost their business.
During the session, businesses heard all about the programme and the benefits hiring someone with an education health and care plan can bring – and our supported internships team were on hand to answer any questions and promote the scheme.
For more information or to enquire about joining the scheme as an individual or employer, please email: supportedemployment@cheshireeast.gov.uk.
