Ranger Events - May 2024
As you can see, from the photo above, the arrival of spring brings with it new life! Not just lots of wild flora and fauna but also new additions to the Bollin Valley Partnership conservation grazing Longhorn herd. The photo above is of Bollin York, who was born a few hours before the photo was taken.
It won't be long before cattle return to a number of our sites, for the summer, as part the conservation management of both Macclesfield Riverside Park, Tegg's Nose Country Park and Dane-in-Shaw Pasture SSSI. Please keep your dogs under close control around all livestock, both on our sites and generally in the wider countryside.
With the increase in active wildlife this month, we have a number of nature themed events this May. *Book your places ASAP to ensure you are able to attend*.

Sunday, 19th May - Dog Behaviour Clinic with Vic Barlow, the Dogfather - May
Dog Behaviour Clinic
Many owners of otherwise obedient dogs have trouble maintaining behaviour on walks. Dogs that will come when called in the garden often go deaf when they meet other dogs. Walking quietly to heel is often a problem in a more distracting outdoor environment.
During this short outdoor behaviour class, at Tegg’s Nose Country Park, Vic will demonstrate, in a more natural environment, how to transfer good obedience work into the real world and also essential techniques for dealing with livestock encountered during walks in the countryside.
Following this free session there is the option of a short paid ‘one to one’ training session with Vic (Cost £10 - any funds raised will be donated to Animal Support Volunteers). Please email Vic Barlow
to also book a ‘one to one’ session.
*Time:* 10.00am to 2.00pm.

Cheshire East family hubs digital offer is now live!
Cheshire East Family Hubs Digital Offer [
]
On 2nd April Cheshire East launched the family hubs digital offer [
] - an online resource dedicated to sharing all the help, support and information that families need if they cannot access a physical family hub in the borough.
Family hubs bring council, health and community services together, so that families with children and young people can access the right help and support, at the right time. The support is available for children and young people from birth up until the age of 19 (or 25 for those with special educational needs).
Over the past twelve months Cheshire East already opened five physical family hubs across the borough and are looking to develop further outreach provision through family hub ‘connect’ sites – offering the opportunity for more in-person support.
The family hub digital offer is a series of webpages which have been created through Livewell, and have been developed to extend our outreach to families.
Through the site families can discover local events in the area, find out more about our SEND services, and the various family support available depending on a child's age.
*Read more in the Cheshire East media release. [
