Residents newsletter header right aligned *Grant funding for local culture and heritage* Culture and heritage grants We have awarded 20 grants to local cultural and heritage organisations all looking to enrich and enhance the lives of the borough’s residents. In total, the 20 grant awards received £80,000 from the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The funds have been distributed to local organisations with a wide variety of cultural interests. The projects to benefit from funding support included a mini arts and cultural festival in Congleton called ‘The Green Island Fiesta’, the installation of some heritage information panels at Alderley Edge railway station, a story-telling festival in Crewe and a musicians in residence programme at Leighton Hospital, in Crewe. You can read the full details on our website using the link below. *Cultural and heritage groups to benefit from government funding* [ ] ________________________________________________________________________ Changes to household waste recycling centres HWRC changes graphic A reminder that there will be temporary changes to household waste recycling centres in Cheshire East from *Monday 5 August*. These include: * longer opening hours on weekdays during summer months * a booking system for weekends and Bank Holidays * temporary emergency closure of Bollington, Poynton and Middlewich sites * a mobile household waste recycling centre for some areas. The changes are being introduced on a temporary and trial basis to ensure essential savings are made in 2024/25. Crewe car park Crewe’s new multi-storey car park and bus station have officially been opened – marking the end of a two-year construction project to deliver new modern transport facilities for the town. The 389-space car park came into use on Tuesday morning and follows the opening of the new bus station, which has been welcoming passengers since May. Cheshire Archives and Local Studies is a shared service of Cheshire East Council and Cheshire West and Chester Council. It looks after the county’s unique and irreplaceable written and pictorial history, which dates back more than 900 years.
