New special school opens in Wilmslow
A group of adults and children cutting a ribbon at a school opening
Pupils have cut the ribbon at the opening of a new special school in Wilmslow.
The newly expanded Springfield School site in Wilmslow is creating up to 80 much-needed local school spaces for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
This latest project is part of our commitment to increase the number of specialist school spaces within the borough and support young people with a range of needs, including autistic spectrum condition, severe learning difficulties and profound multiple learning difficulties. It is the latest in a programme of work to increase school places which has provided more than 230 new places in our special schools and resource provisions in the last five years.
The satellite site has been designed and built with special consideration for the access, safeguarding, and sensory requirements of pupils aged four to 18.
