Celebrating our foster carers
Cllr Bulman helps to plant a tree
A celebration of foster carers across Cheshire East took place in Queens Park earlier this week, as a tree was planted in their honour.
The event was planned in support of Foster Care Fortnight – an annual campaign dedicated to showcasing the commitment, passion and dedication of foster carers. The symbolic gesture will not only beautify the local landscape, but also serve as a lasting tribute to foster carers across the borough.
We are privileged to have so many wonderful foster carers in Cheshire East, but it’s important to remember that there’s always a need for more dedicated individuals to join our fostering community.
Could you be the next person to make the world of difference?

The council commits to continuing to improve children’s services

Cheshire East Council has responded to the publication today of the latest Ofsted inspection of children’s services in the borough.
The council’s inspection of local authority children’s services took place from 26 February to 8 March 2024. The inspectors looked at the experiences of children and young people, and what impact council services have made for them.
We are disappointed with the outcome of this latest inspection and are sorry that some aspects of our support for young people do not meet the expected standard. However, we accept the findings and are committed to addressing all the inspectors’ recommendations.

❗CLOSING TOMORROW: Air quality strategy consultation
We published an air quality strategy in 2011, which was subsequently reviewed and updated in 2018. The aim of the strategy is to support the achievement of the national air quality objectives and to ensure air quality is considered within a wide range of local government and regional planning frameworks. It aims to drive greater improvements in air quality at the local level and is reviewed on a five-yearly basis.
Due to the changes in legislation, plus the current strategy being more than five years old, we are undertaking a review of the strategy and would like your views on the proposed air quality strategy for 2024 to 2029.
