*North Essex Councils' summit addresses housing challenge*
February saw a pivotal moment for North Essex Councils and health partners as they joined forces to address the housing crisis. More than 120 industry experts and leaders came together at the North Essex Councils’ Housing Summit 2024 to try to find some sustainable solutions for the shortage of temporary accommodation and affordable housing in the region.
A full report that sums up the key findings, recommendations and proposed strategies will be published later this month.

CHESS Homeless urgently seeks benefactors
*24 new modular homes* in Chelmsford for single homeless people could be ready by early 2025 as part of a £2.7million charity project - *if the very last part of the funding can be found by March 2024*. Chelmsford Half Marathon takes place this weekend
It’s the Chelmsford Half Marathon on *Sunday 3 March* and if you're taking part, good luck! There will be some road closures in place to make sure the race is safe for everyone attending. Signs are already up along the route, but the event organiser’s website has road closure information and a race map too.

Writtle and ARU complete merger
Congratulations to Writtle University College and Anglia Ruskin University, who this week officially completed their merger to create *ARU Writtle*. Following the merger, ARU is investing £10 million to improve the Writtle campus estate and extend education and research opportunities.

Beaulieu Park station update
There’s been a lot of progress at Chelmsford’s new railway station at *Beaulieu Park*, including the installation of the distinctive timber roof of the new station building. Attention is now focusing on the construction of platform one, and if you’re curious about what’s happening, Network Rail has this *video update.*

Share your safety concerns via an interactive map
*Women and girls* are being asked to *share where they feel unsafe* in Essex, by adding anonymous comments to an *interactive online map*. It's hoped the map will help to better understand concerns, perceptions, and experiences, and focus collective efforts to tackle women’s safety in public spaces.

Essex Minerals Local Plan
Essex County Council has launched a consultation on their Replacement Essex Minerals Local Plan, which identifies policies and sites for minerals extraction in Essex until 2040. A total of *52 sites have been put forward*, with some of these in Chelmsford. The consultation is open until *Tuesday 19 March* for you to have your say.

Indoor bowling tournaments in Chelmsford from 8 March
