Love Parks 2024
Come and discover your local parks *this Friday* (26 July)!
This summer, we’ll be celebrating Chelmsford’s green spaces as part of the nationwide *Love Parks Week*, running from 24 July to 2 August 2024. With 17 Green Flags and 3 Green Heritage accreditations, these are home to so many plant and wildlife species, ancient woodland to vibrant lowland heath, and even more to explore.
To mark the occasion, our Love Parks event is back – this time at Oaklands Park [
], just south of the city centre.
It’s *free to attend* and runs from *10am to 3pm *across the front lawn of Chelmsford Museum. Bring family, bring friends: just like our parks and green spaces, there’ll be something for everyone to enjoy.
The day will feature all kinds of activities, including:
A tote bag and handles with a peregrine printed on the front.
*Print your own tote bag *with Chelmsford Museum and local artist Katie Kennedy (book on the day)
A pair of hands weaving willow into a basket.
*Willow weaving workshop* with local willow artists Glenys Newton and Deb Hart
A group sat by a fire in a forest.
Explore the work of *The Wilderness Foundation *in helping all ages reconnect with society through nature
Two staff members at Bird Aware Essex Coast looking through binoculars over the coast.
Discover the work of *Bird Aware Essex Coast* on the special Essex coastline
A great horned owl.
Explore owls and birds of prey with the *Imperial Bird of Prey Academy*
Hedgehogs made out of clay.
*Clay hedgehog making and medal decorating *with Hylands Forest School via Green Earth Learning
A puppet of a rabbit.
*Explore the world of Atom and Luna* through puppets and VR with Funnelwick Limb
And if you entered our *Name the Peregrine competition*, don't forget to pick up your goodie bag from the Parks stall! And visit the finished willow sculptures installed near the junior play area.
Chelmsford Museum [
] will also be open during the event and refreshments will be available from the Hive Cafe.
*Please note: Parking won’t be available on-site except for blue badge holders. The Museum has a list of alternative parking available [
] on their website (under ‘By car’).*
No booking required –* just turn up! *We hope to see you there.
