Get involved in Concrete Canvas Classroom – A new competition for Chelmsford schools
We are very excited to be working with Chelmsford For You [
] to launch their first schools’ competition for the Concrete Canvas Festival *taking place in May.*
The competition, Concrete Canvas Classroom, is inspired by the Fourth Plinth Schools Award. It invites all schools to take part in a local creative and cultural event giving children and young people an opportunity to interact with the festival.
We are pleased to announce that *one primary and one secondary submission* will have the chance to paint on either side of the Openreach cabinet in the city centre. Entries will be judged by the artist Scotty Brave from Brave Arts:
""I am thrilled to be judging this competition and I'm very much looking forward to potentially discovering future street artists in the process."
"I've always believed that young people should be given opportunities to take part in street art. This is a wonderful way to fast-track young artists confidence in their ability to contribute to the growing Concrete Canvas art trail.""

Come along to the next Spark! Breakfast Morning at Chelmsford Theatre Café
Join us in April for the next Spark! Breakfast Morning. This networking event is designed to give *teachers and youth workers* a chance to meet cultural experience providers and organisations.
""From personal experience it's quite easy for an industry to become siloed and a bit of an echo chamber. What I enjoy about the breakfast mornings is that I get to speak to people from an"
"assortment of industries, ones that I likely wouldn't have the chance to interact with normally, sharing experiences and finding ways that we can potentially collaborate and help each other.""
AJ Scrutton (CEO Dlala Studios)
"“The breakfast networking events have been a great way to find out about other organisations also working to support children and young people in Chelmsford and other communities in Essex. My colleague and I love attending these as we see them as a great way to collaborate and meet like-minded people who share the same aims as us at Kids Inspire, which is to make a difference to children and young people's lives.”"
