Hylands Open Estate Day [
]
Easter is hop-pening earlier this year, and we are egg-cited to bring you an Easter themed Open Estate Day this March!
Don’t forget, Mother’s Day falls the week before our March Open Estate Day this year, so make sure you book your place to our Vintage Afternoon Tea [
] as a special treat for whoever you call Mum.
Here is what’s coming up on Sunday 17 March from 10am to 3pm.
Free Activities
This month, join us for our Easter Egg scavenger hunt taking place across the House! Explore some of our rooms to find what you’re looking for to spell out a mystery word.
We’ll be in the Banqueting Room making Easter bunny crowns for you to wear with pride around the rest of the Estate, as well as paper egg garlands to hang up at home.
Join us in the Drawing Room for storytelling by Mike Dodsworth at 10.30am, 11.30am, 12.30pm and 2pm in the Drawing Room.
We’re delighted to have Nick Wickenden, author of our souvenir book about the history of Hylands Estate, lead on the tours of the House this month. You can now enjoy these at 10am and 1pm.
Storytelling and Easter crafts
Our social history exhibition will take place in the Library where you can find out more about The Gooch family, who were previous owners of Hylands House.
We’re also excited to be taking part in Beat the Street [
]! From 28 February until 10 April Chelmsford and South Woodham Ferrers will become a giant, interactive game where you can get active while exploring your local surroundings and earning points. It’s completely free to join, open to everyone and, best of all, there are lots of prizes up for grabs! We will have a Beat Box at our Open Estate Day outside the house.
