Changes to parliamentary constituency boundaries
For a general election, Chelmsford district residents are divided into three parliamentary constituencies:
* Chelmsford
* Maldon
* North West Essex (formerly Saffron Walden)
You can check your parliamentary boundary online [
].
Since the last general election in 2019, there have been some changes to parliamentary constituency boundaries. Parliamentary constituencies are different from local authority boundaries.
If you live in the area of Chelmsford that falls under the Maldon constituency, Maldon District Council [
] will administer the election for your area. Since the last general election in 2019, there has been one change to the Chelmsford constituency. This is to move Galleywood ward to the Maldon constituency.
If you live in the area of Chelmsford that falls under the North West Essex constituency, Uttlesford District Council [
] will administer the election for your area. Since the last general election in 2019, the ‘Saffron Walden’ consistency has changed its name to ‘North West Essex’. The poll card will have this new constituency name on it, but the area where you vote will not change.

Poll cards
We will send out poll cards around *10 June 2024*. As the law has changed, your poll card may look different this year. Your poll card may be sent in the form of a letter, but the envelope will be clearly labelled.
You need to read your polling card carefully to check your voting arrangements. You do not need to take it with you to vote unless you are registered to vote anonymously.
Some polling stations may have changed since the last election. You can check where your polling station is online [
] or check your poll card.

We will publish the candidates standing in the general election on our election webpage [
] on *Friday 7 June*.
You can visit the ‘Who Can I Vote For?’ [
] website to find out more about candidates in your area. This information can take some time to update and may not be live on Friday.
