Chelmsford’s general election results
*Marie Goldman* of the *Liberal Democrats* has been *elected MP for the Chelmsford constituency* in the general election.
Following a busy night of counting at Chelmsford Sport and Athletics Centre, *the result was declared just before 3am on Friday 5 July*, with Marie Goldman winning *20,214 votes* and being named the new MP for Chelmsford.

Chelmsford Fake Festival returns to Central Park
Chelmsford Fake Festival returns to *Central Park* tomorrow, *Saturday 6 July*, to showcase some of the greatest music tribute acts from across the UK. There’s still time to grab last-minute tickets. 'Tap for Change' donation points
A new tap donation point has been installed in the High Street to support local charities working with people who find themselves homeless. Chelmsford For You has installed a ‘*Tap for Change’ terminal in the window of Waterstones* which allows donations of £3 to be sent straight to *CHESS* and *Sanctus* to help them carry out their work. More tap points are planned soon.

Generals Lane road closure
Generals Lane will be closed for improvement works from 8 July to 29 August. During this time, access to New Hall School will be maintained via White Hart Lane and Remembrance Avenue entrances. The works are part of a larger programme of infrastructure improvements being carried out to support the creation of the new Beaulieu Park railway station.
