Are you looking for last-minute plans to keep your kids entertained over the summer holidays? Chelmsford Museum has you covered with our exciting nature-themed events!
Our events, Becoming a Birdwatcher and Becoming a Nature Watcher, offer children the chance to explore the natural world around them. They'll enjoy birdwatching with telescopes and binoculars, creating bird identification books and nature prints, and learning to identify various plants and trees.
These activities are designed to engage their curiosity, boost their creativity, and foster a love for the outdoors.
Becoming a Birdwatcher
July 31 to 2 August and 7 to 9 August
10.30am to 12.30pm and 2pm to 4pm
Children can gaze out at the park with telescopes and binoculars, hide in the bird hide, and create their own bird identification book with origami birds. They will then craft their own Peregrine from card and see if it can fly 200mph like the real thing!

Becoming a Nature Watcher
14 to 16 August and 21 to 23 August
10.30am to 12.30pm and 2pm to 4pm
Kids are invited to observe and record the nature around them. Inspired by the Victorians, they'll create their own nature book to identify plants, view real nature samples from Hylands Park, and make nature prints using cyanotype paper. They'll also learn to identify trees and plants they see every day.
