Chelmsford City Council ‘strongly objects’ to pylon plans
Chelmsford City Council will *continue to strongly object to plans for a 184km Norwich to Tilbury electricity transmission line* that would bring a new pylon and overhead line route through the district. The proposed response to National Grid’s latest consultation on the project was presented at a meeting of the council’s Cabinet and agreed by council members.
The response will now be submitted to National Grid before the public consultation ends later this month. The section proposed for the Chelmsford area will be discussed at a National Grid webinar on *Tuesday 16 July at 6pm.*
The deadline for the consultation has been *extended until 11:59pm on Friday 26 July *to give people extra time to provide feedback on the plans.

Local artists celebrated at Chelmsford Museum
Chelmsford Museum and Ignite Chelmsford have chosen the first three artists to be showcased in a new Gallery Wall programme that celebrates Chelmsford’s diverse creatives. You can see the first artist, retired architect *David Schreiber’s views of historic Chelmsford* now on display at Chelmsford Museum *until October*.

Residents invited to complete community safety survey
The *annual Safer Essex survey* gathers information on behalf the county’s 14 Community Safety Partnerships, asking residents to share their priorities in tackling crime and anti-social behaviour. The results will help focus multi-agency efforts in addressing crime and community safety across Essex.

Free summer clubs from Essex ActivAte
ActivAte provides free activity clubs throughout the school holidays for eligible children aged 4-16. Designed to suport families of children entitled to free school meals and low-income working families, the clubs offer a range of activities. All clubs are now open to book online, including sessions at South Woodham Ferrers Leisure Centre and Chelmsford Sport and Athletics Centre.

NT Live: Present Laughter at Chelmsford Theatre

The multi award-winning production of Noël Coward‘s provocative comedy was filmed live during its sold-out run at The Old Vic in 2019.
