National Radio Day at Hylands Open Estate
This month’s *Open Estate Day **at Hylands *marks *National Radio Day*!
On *Sunday 18 August* from *10am to 3pm*, Hylands will be celebrating Chelmsford's radio history with free themed sessions alongside all their usual Open Estate Day activities.
*Chelmsford Community Radio *will be helping the next generation of radio enthusiasts to make their own sound effects and read news, weather and travel reports.
You’ll be able to get your hands on *radio objects and artefacts* straight from the collections of *Chelmsford Museum, *and *Chelmsford Theatre Workshop* will be using microphones and recording equipment to create a radio drama, live in the Banqueting Room!
As ever, there'll be a delicious selection of food and drink available to buy and Hot Box Live bring the tunes.

Free family fun at Chelmsford’s Recycling Open Day
Come along to Chelmsford’s Recycling Open Day on *Saturday 31 August*, from *10am to 2pm*. The *free open day at Freighter House* is an opportunity for residents to see how the recycling process works, learn about waste collection services and take a tour of the depot. Young kids and big kids alike can *win prizes* and sit behind the wheel of machinery!

Waterhouse Lane Bridge closure this weekend
*Waterhouse Lane Bridge* will be *closed for 24 hours from 8am on Saturday 17 August.* Works are taking place to reinstate the bridge’s expansion joints following the completion of waterproofing works. The bridge will reopen on the morning of Sunday 18 August. Please allow for extra travelling time during the closure and follow diversions in place.

Record numbers at Picnic in the Park
Back for its third year in a row, Picnic in the Park took place at Melbourne Park earlier this summer, with almost *1,400 sessions attended *across mornings and afternoons that week!
