Site of the Month

We are thrilled to share that we have been announced as the site of the month nationally in 2024 for our delivery of ESCAPE-pain in Charnwood.

We have been part of a countywide pilot working in partnership with Active Together and Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust MSK Physiotherapy Service to deliver sessions for hip and knee pain to Charnwood residents.

We look forward to continuing to provide this support and encouragement to residents who are living with arthritis. Find out more at escape-pain.org.

ESOL

Sam continued her brilliant work with the Loughborough College ESOL group (English for Speakers of Other Languages) in February. After a walk around Queens Park, Sam gave the attendees a tour of the facilities at Loughborough Leisure Centre where they tried out some Basketball, Badminton, and Boccia!

If you want to try out a new sport, take a look at Loughborough Leisure Centre's packed timetable here.

Have your say

You are invited to share your thoughts on ways to make it easier to keep active and travel around Loughborough!

Researchers from Loughborough University are running a series of focus groups, surveys and discussions and are keen to speak to adults who live or work in Loughborough to understand how they find travelling around the town, how they use parks and open spaces, and how easy or difficult it is to keep healthy and active.

Drop-in sessions will be held on Tuesday afternoons at the Careers & Enterprise Hub from 2pm – 4pm in Loughborough town centre, and on Thursday and Saturday mornings at John Storer House at 10am – 12pm, between now and May 2024.

If you are interested in taking part and would like additional information, please complete the online form found here: https://www.lboro.ac.uk/.../take-part-in-our-research/ or email hilp@mailbox.lboro.ac.uk.

Looking forward...

Seated Exercise sessions in the community

Do you know how many exercises can be performed with a stress ball alone? The answer: A lot!

Residents at Longcliffe Road received the benefits of Sam's expertise in seated exercise and raised their heart rates with nothing but a stress ball before ending the session with a competitive game of Boccia!

If you are interested in holding seated exercise sessions at your setting, please reach out to Sam on samantha.balram@charnwood.gov.uk.
